Bondage is a term covering a wide variety of techniques and tools, but basically revolves around the restraint of the submissive (or sub). Bondage tools can be chains, leather cuffs, metal shackles, spreader bars and variety of ropes to name a few.
Some practitioners enjoy bondage as a lead up to sex, while others just enjoy the sensation of being restrained and the ‘high’ that comes with it. Bondage can be used in conjunction with other kinks such as Impact Play (Corporal Punishment) amongst other things.
Mummification is a type of bondage that involves full body restraint, usually though the use of things like cling wrap, rubber or leather ‘sleep sacks’. Because of the extreme restraint used in mummification it is often used along with breath play.
Rope Bondage covers both Western and Eastern styles of bondage. Western tends to be known as ‘Rigging’ while Eastern styles can cover Wuhua Bang (Chinese), Shibari and Kinbaku (Japanese). Often a mix of both is known by practitioners. Rope Bondage can be as simple as a a wrist tie, or as complex as a full body harness with suspension. Not only that but there are many different varieties of rope to tie with, from natural fibres through to synthetics, silks and cotton.
Rope Bondage should be performed by a Dominant or Top competent in the knowledge of nerve areas that can be easy damaged, as well as the basics such as knots and hitches. While there are many books and videos on how to learn rope bondage, the best way is to attend a local class or workshop.
Rope Bondage does not have a Flagging colour itself, but tends to fall under Grey for Bondage ( see Hanky Codes )
